4/3/2023

North Carolina and South Carolina nonprofits can apply now for funding for projects that improve health care outcomes for individuals and communities.

Raleigh, NC - The CCME Foundation, a nonprofit organization supporting health care improvement in the Carolinas, is accepting grant applications from eligible nonprofit organizations that work to improve health care for individuals and communities through measurable outcome improvement projects.

The yearly grants range from $5,000 to $50,000 and fund projects that impact health care improvements and access for individuals and communities, particularly the uninsured and underserved. CCME Foundation invites eligible nonprofits to apply for funding April 1 through June 15, 2023, and will announce grant recipients in early August 2023.

“It is truly a rewarding feeling to give back to the people and communities who dedicate their time and energy to improve health care systems and peoples' lives,” said Steven Martin, President and CEO of The Carolinas Center for Medical Excellence (CCME), a separate nonprofit organization that funds the CCME Foundation. CCME has collectively worked with health care providers, stakeholders, and advocates for 40 years, added Martin: “Funding these grants is the right thing to do to help patients and communities.”

The foundation considers applicants with current 501(c)(3) status, including faith-based, hospital/provider/clinic, educational institutions and community service organizations. The foundation funds programs with a focus on:

  • Healthy lifestyle and quality of life programs
  • Access to culturally and linguistically appropriate care
  • Consumer-centered care and decision-making
  • Health-related educational information
  • Patient safety programs.

The CCME Foundation will not fund reimbursable direct patient care services, facility construction/ remodeling of facilities, lobbying, and fundraising activities. All awardees are required to submit online quarterly progress reports throughout the contract period. The CCME Foundation Board of Directors Review Committee oversees the grant process and determines recipients.

This is the third year the CCME Foundation, established in 2019, has awarded grants to improve health care. To learn more about the foundation and its grant process, please visit CCME Foundation or connect with Dori DeJong, Executive Director, at Foundation@thecarolinascenter.org or 919-461-5550.
